Tons of people travel to other places to celebrate Thanksgiving, meaning that the airports are crazy during this time of year. Here are ten tips to surviving air travel during Thanksgiving.

1) In the current economic times, lets face it, we need to find the best prices that we can. My suggestion is to go through CheapOair.com. They offer hands down the best budget travel in the United States. They have been awarded the Hitwise award as one of the top 10 travel websites 3 years in a row. You can't go wrong with that!

2) Print your boarding pass at home. This way you won't have to stand in line at the airport for God knows how long... during the holidays it can be HOURS!

3) Check your luggage as soon as you get out of your car. Most major airlines have a curbside baggage service that allows you to check luggage and check in. This makes it easier for you to get in the airport and is a sure way to miss about an hour of check-in lines.

4) Fly early in the day. Face it, people do not want to wake up early and deal with airport madness - so they don't. Early flights almost always ensure that you will be in the airport fast, and on a half empty plane. The plane almost always departs on time, and even sometimes lands early!

5) Invest in a portable DVD player. This will surely help to keep the kids quiet on the airplane, and even keep you entertained. Purchase Dora The Explorer's Thanksgiving and Rugrat's Thanksgiving - these two DVDs are over an hour long and are sure to keep your kids entertained.

6) Get to the airport EARLY! Security is known to take extra long during the holiday season, so give yourself plenty of time to make it through the gate.

7) Buy snacks once you get in the security gate. You won't be able to take them through the gate, but once in you will see why you'll need them on the plane. With layovers and delays, these snacks will be a surefire way to keep the kids and yourself occupied and full.

8) Make sure that every bag you are taking has an identity tag with your name, phone number, and address. During the holidays, it is common for luggage to get misplaced. If you tag your luggage, it will be less difficult for your belongings to get back to you where they belong.

9) Keep ALL valuables in your carry on luggage. Not saying that you can't trust airport security... but during the holidays more things are likely to get stolen than during other times of the year.

10) Check-in from home. That way you can skip it at the airport, and just give the people your luggage!

11) Good luck, be safe and have a good trip!
